Professor Mengistu Kifle Gelan is an Advisor and Full Professor as well as Adjunct Professor at AAU and Gondar universities. He holds a PhD in telemedicine in low resource settings from Sweden. He has published in more than 123 peer-reviewed journals, a handful of book chapters, eHealth, Digital health, telemedicine, innovation, medical devices national strategy, policy and technical documents, and over 167 national and international conference papers. He is a board member and advisor (ASICT, AU, NEPAD, ATA, and EBMA) and reviewer of several journals. He serves as a panel member and moderator to review proposals for the India-Africa telemedicine project, and has been an invited guest speaker in the USA, EU, and Africa; external thesis examiner; supervisor, co-chair, and chair for Doctoral and Master Students. He also serves at conferences and professional meetings on telemedicine, telehealth, and mHealth as Session Chair, Track, and mini-Track Chair. He is a member of professional working groups, international associations, and international special telemedicine interest groups. He has coordinated and led several national telemedicine, medical tele-education, mHealth, and medical equipment projects.
